2006. The family directors decide to sell management to a new management.

Since 2000. Gernal gradually develops into a specialised provider of products and solutions in the international market for industrial food processing technology.

Early 90’s. Gernal builds a brand-new 6,000 m² production hall in the industrial zone of Komen, Belgium. This investment shows that the company is ready to meet the growing demand for food-safe SST machines and accessories, which are a consequence of European Guidelines.

The 70’s. Under the impulse and management of the second generation – the sons Johan and Marc Gernaey, and son-in-law Eric Huyghe –, Gernal experiences strong growth. The company specialises itself in the meat processing sector and builds up an excellent reputation in the production of increasingly complex machines. Especially Gernal’s in-house designs are increasingly successful, also in France.

The 50’s. Arnold Gernaey starts up the production of aluminium containers and trays for the fish market. The company soon specialises itself in the production of stainless steel equipment, specially designed for the meat processing industry. Gernal is born.
